We worked with a consortium of companies, including McNally Jackson, the American Booksellers Association (ABA) and On Demand Books (ODB), to create a bridge between their Drupal website and the Espresso Book Machine, which prints hardbound books from a digital file in less time than it takes to make a cup of coffee. We managed the project, coordinated with the three member organizations and developed the software.
Our custom Ubercart Print on Demand integration made it possible for McNally Jackson Books’ customers to go through a standard online shopping experience (i.e. search for a book, add it to a shopping cart, go through checkout, etc.) and pick up their purchase, still warm from the press.
This module makes it possible to print public domain and out of print works as well as self-published and in-copyright titles. It is now used on several American Booksellers Association’s member bookseller sites.
